If you have completed your application for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) bursary then you may have been asked to submit documents as part of your application, which verifies the information you have provided in the application.

Applications for the NSFAS bursary closed on 7 January 2022.

If you are worried that you didn’t submit all the documents you think they may have needed, NSFAS has stated that the myNSFAS portal will request documents based on the information that you have included in your application.

An applicant will not be able to submit more documents after their application has been submitted, so NSFAS says that applicants should wait for their evaluation team to request a document should they need it.

So NSFAS will send you a communication if they require more documents from you.

Here are the documents NSFAS applicants were required to submit with their online application:

All applicants:

  • Copy of your ID
  • Must have consent from parent(s), guardian or spouse to submit their personal information for validation and verification. Once you accept the application terms and conditions, you confirm that you have received consent from all relevant parties.

If the applicant is dependent on their parents/guardian/spouse, they must provide:

  • ID copies of parent(s), guardian or spouse
  • Proof of income (payslip/UIF letter/appointment letter/recruitment letter) of parent(s), guardian or spouse where applicable

If the applicant has a disability, they must provide:

  • A completed Disability Annexure A (if their information is not pre-populated on the online application form)

To upload missing/outstanding documents for your 2022 application, follow these steps:

  • Sign into your myNSFAS account
  • Upload the requested missing documents
  • Press submit

Once you have done this, you should receive a notification confirming that the documents have been successfully uploaded.
