Job Overview:

  • Goal: To manage resources to maximize turnover and minimize shortages while ensuring adherence to standards, processes, and policies.
  • This role provides a valuable pathway to career advancement toward becoming a Bakery Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified Baker
  • Supervisory Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position is advantageous.

  • Merchandising Management: Ability to manage merchandising and execute plano guides.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Bakery Production and Merchandising:

  • Ensure products are produced according to recipe specifications.
  • Ensure the department is ready for trade by store opening time.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on merchandise and execute plano guide 100%.
  • Ensure products are wrapped, packed, and displayed according to standards.
  • Monitor stock to meet customer demand and maintain margin and sales opportunities.
  • Manage compliance with hygiene, housekeeping, and safety standards.
  • Implement and monitor promotional activities and adhere to the promotional calendar.
  • Ensure stock is rotated, and sell-by dates are adhered to on the sales floor and in backup areas.

Food Safety & Hygiene:

  • Maintain food safety and health standards, ensuring corrective actions for non-conformances.
  • Implement and monitor cleaning schedules, ensuring sanitation standards.
  • Complete the Food Safety Daily Checklist.

Customer Service Management:

  • Respond to customer queries about out-of-stock items and offer replacements or solutions.
  • Maintain customer service standards and ensure equipment is operational.

Staff Management:

  • Communicate critical information to staff.
  • Set and prioritize targets and activities, delegating tasks as needed.
  • Coach staff and address procedural, policy, and legislative noncompliance.
  • Attend monthly regional meetings, sharing insights and updates with the team.

Administration:

  • Ensure all equipment is well-maintained and general maintenance standards are met.
  • Monitor turnover, waste, and stock to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure Shelf Edge Labels (SEL) are in place and current.

Systems & Processes:

  • Regularly monitor stock levels, using gap scanning for out-of-stock and overstock situations.
  • Utilize SAP for reporting, stock management, and processing waste.
