Two out of three suspects have been arrested for a robbery that took place at a school in Pinetown, Dassenhoek. Learners who were stabbed are currently recovering from their wounds but counseling is much needed for the whole education community who caught sight of the disturbing events.

Three armed men entered the Dassenhoek High School, robbed learners and teachers of their valuables.

One learner from the school who tried to fight back ended up being stabbed three times in his face as he was refusing to give up his cellphone.

This spilled over to other learners and teachers who were at close range when this happened. It has been reported that four learners were stabbed by these men.

One of the victims said that he fears going back to school as he/she fears being finished off.

In a recent tweet KZN Education Minister, Kwazi Mshengu said:

The community of Dassenhoek has traced and caught two of the thugs who robbed learners of their valuables and stabbed four of them yesterday. They were handed over to the police in a proper, proper condition. We sincerely thank the community.

Mshengu expressed ho what has happened is a reflection of how bad things have become in some communities.

A parent of one of the learners at the school, Gugu Kunene, shared in a live interview on ENCA the same sentiments as Education Minister when it comes to a collective effort needed even from community members to protect their local schools.
