The University of  Fort Hare has opened its registrations for the 2022 academic year on 17 January until 05 February 2022, and in an effort to ensure the reregistration process is without any hassles for all students, the university has created a 2022 Registration Guide.

According to the guide, all first-year students will be allowed to register remotely (Online). However, if they need physical guidance, they are welcome to come to campuses for assistance.

Students have been urged to refer to the registration venue plan to identify the date on which they are to register.

These are the key dates and closing deadlines for each campus:

  • 17 Jan – 11 Feb 2022 Registration opens only for Continuing East London self-funded students
  • 25 Jan – 11 Feb 2022 Registration opens for the rest of Continuing East London, Bhisho and Alice students
  • 31 Jan – 05 Feb 202 In contact registration opens for all FTENS (new students) in EAST LONDON and Alice.

The university has also stated that if first-year students do not register within 5 days after the set date, their space will be allocated to another applicant.

Students will be required to pay a Minimum Initial Payment (MIP) of R3500 before registering. This amount will be credited to the student’s account.

Students who have applied for residential student accommodation at the university will have to pay an additional R1500 as payment towards residence fees.

Students who have been allocated an NSFAS bursary will have to provide a copy of their bursary acceptance letter before registration.

Returning Students with outstanding balances on their fee accounts:

  • Will not be permitted to re-register
  • Will not receive examination results
  • Will not be allowed into residences
  • Will be charged interest on outstanding accounts and will be handed over to a debt collection agency for collection.
