The University of Pretoria has opened its registrations for the 2022 academic year on 3 January. The registration call centre will be available to assist students with their registration queries until 28 February 2022.

Students may contact the registration centre from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 16:00.

The registration centre may be contacted via email at registration@up.ac.za, telephonically at 012 420 5347, and online chat via Mothusi in the UP student Portal.

Registrations take place online via the UP Student Portal. The following students may register on the following dates:

  • PhD, Master’s, Veterinary Science, and Health Science students: 3 January 2022
  • New students: 25 January 2022
  • Senior students: 1 February 2022

Students who have not paid their initial registration fee or have not completed their online enrolment contract and submitted it may not be able to register.

Those with outstanding library materials will also not be able to register even if they have paid their initial registration fee.

In order to facilitate registration, students are required to make all initial payments at least five days prior to registration to allow for processing time.

Bursary holders are required to email a confirmation letter from their sponsor/bursar at least five days before registration. These letters may be emailed to externalbursaries@up.ac.za.

If the letter is not sent then students will need to pay the initial fee themselves.

Students funded by NSFAS do not need to pay the initial registration fee or submit a confirmation letter. As soon as students are approved for funding by the authorities, the financial hold will be lifted and they will be given the go-ahead to register.

Non-South African citizens have been requested to email the university proof of their medical aid and study permit before registration. The documents may be emailed to isd@up.ac.za.
