The Student Representative Council (SRC) at the University of Pretoria has said in a statement issued on Wednesday that it will commit to giving assistance to all students who may be facing academic exclusion.

This, according to the student body, includes informing students who may be facing academic exclusion about how the process works and all the measures in place to prevent it.

This communique, in addition to posters posted on the UP SRC’s social media, will act as one such platform to inform the Student Body of academic exclusions and appeals. Should any student require further assistance, the SRC welcomes queries and engagements.

According to the SRC. These are some of the reasons why students might find themselves academically excluded:

  • Students will be academically excluded from a faculty or dismissed when they fail to meet the faculty or University requirements for progress.
  • In the event that the student is a full-time student, they would have failed to pass at least 50% of the modules they enrolled for in a particular year of study.
  • In the event that the student is a full-time student, the student will be excluded or dismissed if they fail to complete the degree within the minimum prescribed time frame and an additional two.

The SRC will then guide the student through the procedure for the faculty Academic appeals
