As a cautionary measure to ensure that SRD grant payments are processed to the right people, Sassa tends to decline SRD grant applications for several reasons. One of them happens to be ‘Referred SAFPS’ , here is what it means and how you can resolve it.

SAFPS’ stands for ‘South African Fraud Prevention Service’ and would mean that when your application was being processed and verified, Sassa found that you have committed fraud in the past and were flagged by the SAFPS.

Sassa does this by taking your ID number and phone number through a Fraud Risk Scoring process upon receiving your application.

However, if you feel that this is not enough of a justifiable reason for Sassa to decline your SRD grant application, you have the right to appeal your application. Here is how you can do that.

How To Appeal For SRD Grant

  • Go to the SRD Grant website
  • Scroll down to ‘Application for reconsideration’
  • Click on the yellow bar
  • Fill in the required fields
  • Once you’ve submitted your SRD appeal, you will then need to track it. Click here to find out how.

The outcome of your appeal will be relayed to you through SMS. The appeal means that SASSA will have to reconsider as well as process your application again.

However, it’s important to remember that applicants only have 30 days after their SRD grant is rejected to submit an R350 grant appeal.
